20/11/2023- The distinguished delegates from both countries engaged in an in-depth analysis of the Spanish model, exploring Agroseguro's unique role as a management company.
- The Spanish Combined Agricultural Insurance system stands as a global example, embodying a sustainable and successful model in agricultural risk management.
Agroseguro, the Spanish Group of Insurance Entities for Combined Agricultural Insurance, had the honour of hosting official delegations from the Philippines and Malta. The purpose of their visit was to gain an extensive understanding of the Spanish agricultural insurance system and the specific roles played by Agroseguro as a management company.
The initial visit, organised in collaboration between the World Bank and Agroseguro, included representatives from the Government of Philippines Ministries of Agriculture and Economy; Treasury Office; Legislative chambers (House of Representatives and Senate); the Philippine Agricultural Insurance Corporation, and the Insurers and Reinsurers Association.
Over four days, the delegation engaged in collaborative work sessions with various Agroseguro, ENESA and the Insurance Compensation Consortium teams. Additionally, there was a visit to Corral de Almaguer in Toledo, where the delegation participated in a practical evaluation of vineyard damage, with Agroseguro's regional management team.
The second delegation, coordinated by Mapfre RE, was led by the Government of Malta Director of Agriculture from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights. His meeting with Agroseguro primarily centred on gaining insights into the operations and activities of the Group, the design process of the different insurance policies and the protocols for managing damage assessment.
These official visits confirm the prestigious international reputation the Spanish agricultural insurance system has, and the management carried out by Agroseguro for 43 years.
